3 Changes of Mindset to Really Enjoy Paris

When planning our trip, we naturally followed all the reviews and experiences from other travelers that we could find.
The funny thing is, even when you make a great plan, life always has its own surprises—as was the case for us.
On the first day of our stay in Paris, we both started feeling unwell. This completely disrupted our plans and schedules, as I had an itinerary planned down to the minute.

We quickly had to change our plans—amidst thoughts tinged with a bit of judgment and disillusionment—and prioritize the places that were truly essential for us to visit once we felt better. With this decision, we ruled out everything else we had been willing to see—should the opportunity arise—on a future trip. For the things we kept in the itinerary, we did enjoy them fully and gave ourselves the time to relax and feel the experiences without thinking in the next thing to do right away.

At another time, this decision would have made me feel terrible—like what I did wasn't enough, or even that the trip had been somewhat in vain—but NO; we realized that we must always put ourselves first and give ourselves what we need at that moment.
To have a better time and truly enjoy ourselves, we had to shift our mindset and break free from the limiting thoughts that urged us to "save money" simply because the city has a reputation for being expensive.
We decided to prioritize what worked best for our current situation and convenience, opting for experiences defined by comfort and good service rather than just seeking out the cheapest option or the lowest price.

The three (3) experiences that completely changed the outcome of our trip were:
1. Taking taxis or Uber to and from our hotel instead of using public transport during rush hours.
2. Choosing the empty café—rather than the one right next door that was packed with people waiting in line—simply because of the view of the Eiffel Tower.
3. Booking a nice hotel with an on-site restaurant, where we could enjoy some downtime and—on colder or rainy nights—stay in comfortably and have a delicious dinner.

Below is our photo from when we left for the airport in this trip, and another from Paris with our dream fulfilled.
We did visit what we wanted the most and had the experiences that were truly important for us, and this only means that we will be visiting Paris, again, very soon...

In this trip we learned two things:
1. To always be open to change plans when needed and be as flexible as possible when traveling
2. To put our wellbeing and comfort in the first place, ALWAYS
