Barcelona's Castle in the Clouds: Montjuic

Montjuïc, a prominent hill in Barcelona, has a rich and diverse history that dates back centuries. Originally a strategic military site, it was fortified with various structures, including the Montjuïc Castle, built in the 17th century to defend the city. Perched high above the city, we saw a breathtaking castle in the clouds that seemed straight out of a fairy tale.
A convenient cable car is located right at the mountain base, well worth the price ($17 euros/person) for the stunning panoramic views of the city and the Mediterranean Sea. There were small lines for the cable car, but the process was overall fast and very organized by the personnel. There is also a path to reach the top of the hill walking, excellent for the more experienced hikers.

Once we arrived to Montjuic, the views of the Castle and from it are beautiful, ideal to spend a nice time surrounded by history and clean air. The entrance tickets to the Castle were EUR 5.00 per person. Inside, there are maps of the castle and many original artifacts that belong to its history.
As we wandered around, we discovered hidden parks filled with a serene ambiance, perfect for peaceful moments away from the bustling city. Although we did not find any places to eat or drink near the castle, there were restrooms inside and plenty of places to seat down and admire the views.
