Live Barcelona Like a Local in
Parc de la Ciutadella

Parc de la Ciutadella is a beautiful and historic park in Barcelona, known for its lush greenery, scenic lakes, and stunning landmarks. It features the impressive Barcelona Zoo, the Catalan Parliament building, a grand fountain designed by Gaudí, and a peaceful place to relax and enjoy nature.
Starting from the Arc de Triumph, an expansive park invites visitors to stroll, enjoy the sunshine and the recreational activities taking place there, as well as the live music and performances by street artists—so famous in Barcelona.
The park is right at the end of the big boulevard, and it is a favorite spot for locals and visitors alike, offering a tranquil escape in the heart of the city with plenty of space for picnics, walks, and outdoor activities.
Here are some of the attractions in the park, a few of them perfect if you are visiting with kids, or like us, if you like music and a lively ambiance.

1. The Cascada (Water Fountain)
A stunning, elaborate fountain designed by Gaudí and others, resembling a grand waterfall with sculptures and decorative elements.
2. Barcelona Zoo
A popular zoo home to a wide variety of animals, located within the park.
3. The Catalan Parliament Building
The historic building where the Catalan government holds sessions.
4. The Parliament de Catalunya
The seat of regional government.
5. The Lake and Rowboats
A peaceful lake where visitors can rent rowboats and enjoy the scenic surroundings.
6. Green Spaces and Gardens
Beautiful areas perfect for picnics, walks, and relaxing amidst nature.
7. Museums and Cultural Spots
Various smaller attractions and cultural spaces scattered throughout the park.
During our visit, we found two different music events taking place.
The first was a very large group dancing—super coordinated—to the rhythm of lively boogie-woogie songs. The second was another big group dancing salsa music right upstairs where the main fountain is.
Both groups were super animated, but finally we decided for the salsa one - since it it the one we know best and enjoy the most.
The park is a perfect blend of nature, history, and entertainment, making it a must-visit in Barcelona, we spent some hours here and loved how many activities were available, for all age groups. Excellent to spend some hours relaxed and in touch with Nature.
