Food Tour: The Flavors of Iquique, Chile

Iquique is known to be a city where tradition meets innovation on every plate. From fresh seafood caught along the Pacific coast to traditional Atacama dishes and international flavors, Iquique offers several options for every traveler, and we wanted to check it out for ourselves.
We did an amazing culinary tour with a local, and we recommend it either with a guide or on your own. Some dishes that we recommend are local specialties like seafood ceviche, empanadas, and the famous "pescado a lo macho".
Here we show you the 5 places we enjoyed the most for their food, service and location, organized for the perfect Food Tour Day.
1. Donde el Tata Ciego - Breakfast
This rustic tavern right in front of the fishing port, prides itself on serving traditional dishes made with fresh, quality ingredients and seafood, offering a taste of local flavors in every bite. Our favorites were the Shrimp and Cheese empanadas, super recommended!
Just keep in mind that empanadas here are huge!

3. Amanda - Afternoon Snack
This delightful spot is dedicated to satisfying your sweet tooth. The cozy dessert shop offers a tempting variety of treats - including homemade cakes, pastries, ice creams, and traditional Chilean desserts - while the rooftop terrace offers the sunset views in the ocean while enjoying their delicacies.
The only sad part, is that we had to share due to the size of the treat 🙂
