During Your Cruise Stop in Cannes
When a Cruise Ship docks in Cannes port, usually takes some time to have all in order for the disembarkation. And on the other hand, it is also required that all passengers are back in the ship at least 2-3 hours before sailing.
For example, if the cruise ship sets sail at 8 p.m., the situation will be much more favorable than if the departure is scheduled for 5 p.m. The earlier the cruise ship departs, the less time you will have available for leisure and relaxation in the port city.
The fact is that, depending on how many ships are docked, every hour is crucial and demands better planning to carry out certain activities. So, we have some tips for you!

Tips to avoid crowds during your cruise stop in Cannes:
1. Visit Early in the Morning or Late in the Afternoon
Why: Most cruise visitors tend to arrive mid-morning and stay until late morning or early afternoon. By arriving early, around sunrise, you can enjoy popular spots like La Croisette, Le Suquet, or beaches before the crowds arrive.
How: Check your cruise schedule and plan to disembark soon after the port opens. Similarly, returning to the ship in the late afternoon or early evening allows you to experience the city when it’s quieter.
2. Explore Less Touristy Neighborhoods and Hidden Gems
Why: Main attractions tend to become crowded quickly, especially near the port. Venturing into quieter areas can give you a more authentic and peaceful experience.
How: Walk through local neighborhoods away from the main tourist zones, visit small parks or gardens, or explore lesser-known beaches and viewpoints. For example, consider visiting the nearby Île Sainte-Marguerite or taking a walk along quieter streets in Le Cannet.
3. Visit During Off-Peak Days
Why: Weekends and holiday periods attract more visitors. If your schedule allows, plan your visit during weekdays for a more relaxed experience.
How: Coordinate your cruise itinerary with the days the ship is docked, and aim to explore during midweek when fewer tourists are around. We planned our day in a very relaxed way as it was a Wednesday, and even with all the cruise visitors it did not feel so crowded.

Why: Public transportation and walking allow you to quickly reach less crowded areas, avoid congestion, and enjoy the city at your own pace. We found walking more convenient and allowed us to actually go at our own pace.
