Visiting Bruges by Train - If you Have
a Tight Schedule

We all know the stress that comes with a travel itinerary when we feel our time in a place is limited by schedules, flight departures, or even cruises. Based on our own experience, we'll give you some tips to help you plan your trip with peace of mind and perfect timing.
The city’s train station, Bruges Railway Station, is conveniently located just a short walk from the city center, allowing for quick access after arrival. Trains from major Belgian cities like Brussels and Ghent run frequently, making it easy to plan a brief visit or a quick stopover.

However, during our trip we discovered that trains between Zeebrugge and Bruges ran less frequently, departing every hour and a half or two hours. This surprised us, as we hadn't anticipated such a limited schedule, and led us to slightly modify our itinerary to be able to visit everything we had planned for that day.
Another point to consider was that the return from Bruges had to be much earlier than we had planned, as we arrived by cruise ship and had to respect the re-entry deadline. So, we decided to go to the train station earlier and buy there some Belgian chocolate, which we did not take the time to buy in the city center. To our surprise, even in the train station they have the famous store with great prices, perfect!
A curious note from this trip:
As we boarded the train back to Zeebrugge, we spotted a couple we recognized from our cruise ship. They seemed unsure if this was the right train and weren't getting on, even though it was about to depart.
Since, according to our calculations, this was the last train to arrive in time for our cruise ship's re-entry, we decided to call out to them. When they saw us, they smiled with relief and boarded immediately. They sat across from us, and we chatted happily for the entire journey.
From that moment on, we've been very fortunate to call them our fellow travelers, and we cherish the moments we've shared together since then.

Good people attract good people.
Thank you, Leo and Sara!
