Exploring Marseille: Our Little Train Experience

tourist petit train marseille
After arriving in the city on our cruise line's shuttle bus, we began our adventure on foot. As we continued walking, we came across a kiosk offering tickets for Marseille's charming little tourist train.
It looked like a wonderful way to discover more of the city, so we decided to give it a try!
Each ticket was €11 and the whole tour was about 45 minutes total, with a mandatory stop in Notre Dame Cathedral up in the hills.

Exploring Marseille by Tourist Train

For us, combining walking with a sightseeing ride made the day even more enjoyable.
The train goes a long way by the waterfront, to then get into little streets with local shops and markets, very nice to see the city ambiance.
The train took us uphill toward one of Marseille's most famous landmarks.
Located high above the city, Notre-Dame de la Garde is known for its beautiful architecture and breathtaking panoramic views.
From the top, we could admire Marseille, its harbor, and the Mediterranean coastline.
It was a wonderful opportunity to appreciate the beauty of the city from a completely different perspective.

Is the Marseille Tourist Train Worth It?

For our one-day visit, we were happy we included the tourist train in our plans.
It was a fun addition to our independent walking tour.
We also appreciated the opportunity to rest our feet while continuing to explore.
If you're visiting Marseille on a cruise, a sightseeing train may be an interesting option.

However, routes, departure points, schedules, and ticket prices can change. You may check the current information here:
