What to Do in Kotor, Montenegro,
on a One-Day Cruise Stop

Welcome to Kotor, Montenegro!
Nestled between dramatic mountains and the sparkling waters of the Adriatic, Kotor is one of Montenegro’s most beautiful destinations.
Nestled between dramatic mountains and the sparkling waters of the Adriatic, Kotor is one of Montenegro’s most beautiful destinations.
During our Mediterranean cruise in August, we had the opportunity to explore this charming coastal town, and it quickly became one of our favorite experiences of the trip.
What made our visit special?
We combined two completely different experiences in a single day: exploring Kotor’s historic Old Town and relaxing at a beautiful beach club.
However, the best itinerary always depends on how long your ship remains in the port.
If you're visiting Kotor on a cruise and wondering how to make the most of your time ashore, here's how we spent our day.

1. Explore the Charming Streets of Kotor Old Town
Walking through its narrow cobblestone streets feels like stepping back in time.
Surrounded by centuries-old stone buildings, picturesque squares, charming cafés, and beautiful architecture, the Old Town is a wonderful place to explore at your own pace.
One of the things we loved most was simply wandering through the streets and discovering unexpected corners.
You don't need an organized excursion to appreciate the beauty of this historic town.
KL STYLE TIP: Visit the Old Town earlier in the day, especially during the summer months, when temperatures can be high and the streets become busier.

2. Discover Kotor’s Historic Fortress Walls
One of Kotor’s most recognizable features is its impressive system of medieval defensive walls. During our visit, we explored the sections accessible from the Old Town rather than climbing the steep trail toward the fortress above the city.
This allowed us to appreciate the architecture and atmosphere without committing to a long uphill hike.
For cruise passengers with limited time, exploring the lower sections of the fortifications can be a practical alternative.
KL STYLE TIP: If you plan to hike toward the upper fortress, allow additional time, bring water, and wear comfortable shoes. The climb is a separate activity.

3. Enjoy a Relaxing Afternoon at Kotor Beach
After exploring the Old Town, we were ready for a different kind of experience.
And what better way to enjoy a summer day in Montenegro than relaxing by the water?
We headed to Kotor Beach, where we spent a wonderful few hours at Little Bay Beach Club.
The combination of mountain scenery, beautiful water, and a relaxed summer atmosphere made this the perfect complement to our own tour.
Instead of rushing from one attraction to another, we took time to enjoy the destination.
KL STYLE TIP: During the summer, contact the beach club ahead of time to confirm availability, prices, and reservation requirements. These details can change throughout the season.
And that's exactly what KL STYLE is all about.
More Than a Trip… A Lifestyle.
