Cinque Terre in One Day by Train:
How to Visit All 5 Villages

CINQUE TERRE-RED BLDG
Can you visit Cinque Terre in one day by train? Yes—and that is exactly how we explored this beautiful part of the Italian Riviera.
With a little planning, the train makes it possible to visit all five Cinque Terre villages in a single day without needing a car.
During our visit we used the train to move between the five villages: Riomaggiore, Manarola, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare. In this post, we’ll share how to organize your day, the best order to visit the villages and practical tips to help you make the most of your time.

Visiting All 5 Cinque Terre Villages by Train

The train is one of the easiest ways to explore Cinque Terre in a single day. The five villages are connected by the regional railway line, allowing you to travel from one village to the next without wasting valuable time looking for parking or navigating the narrow coastal roads.
The five villages, from south to north, are:
Riomaggiore → Manarola → Corniglia → Vernazza → Monterosso al Mare

Is One Day Enough for Cinque Terre?

One day is enough to experience all five Cinque Terre villages if your goal is to see the highlights and travel efficiently by train. However, it will be a full day.
If you prefer slow travel, long lunches or hiking between the villages, we recommend staying longer, like 2-3 days.

We recommend starting early, travel light and don't try to see every street in every village. The beauty of this trip is experiencing the personality of all five villages while still leaving yourself enough time to stop, enjoy the views and experience Cinque Terre rather than simply checking places off a list.
