Marseille Cruise Stop in One Day:
Our Walking Tour

Our plan was simple: enjoy a walking tour, explore the waterfront, and discover some of Marseille's most interesting places.
So, instead of spending the entire day on an organized excursion, we decided to discover the city at our own pace.
Our adventure began when we left the cruise ship and boarded a shuttle bus provided by the cruise line. The MSC bus took us from the cruise port into the city, right in front of the Cathédrale Sainte‑Marie‑Majeure.
It was a convenient way to begin our visit without arranging separate transportation.
Once we arrived, we were ready to explore Marseille on foot.

A fun discovery — the giant orange Ours Jayet!

One of the most unexpected discoveries during our Marseille adventure was a giant orange teddy bear standing approximately six meters tall!
We couldn't resist stopping for a photo in front of this enormous sculpture. With its welcoming open arms and playful design, it was definitely one of the most memorable surprises of our walking tour.
Sometimes, the best travel memories come from the places you never expected to find. And this giant bear was certainly one of them!

Walking Along Marseille's Waterfront

One of the highlights of our day was walking along the waterfront.
Marseille has a strong maritime identity, and the port is an important part of the city's character.
As we continued our walk, we enjoyed the harbor atmosphere, the boats, and the beautiful Mediterranean surroundings.
The waterfront was a wonderful place to appreciate Marseille's coastal charm.
We loved taking our time and discovering the city without rushing.

Finding the Tourist Train

During our walk, we eventually reached a kiosk offering tickets for Marseille's little tourist train.
We thought it would be a fun way to see more of the city.
After exploring on foot, the train offered a different perspective on Marseille.
It also gave us an opportunity to continue discovering the destination without walking the entire time.
We'll share more about the train route, our experience, and why we enjoyed it in a separate KL STYLE article.

Is Marseille Worth Exploring on Your Own During a Cruise Stop?

Absolutely!
Our one-day visit showed us how enjoyable it can be to discover Marseille independently.
We loved the waterfront, the historic surroundings, and the freedom to explore at our own pace.
We also discovered experiences that made our visit even more memorable, including the little tourist train and a special café stop... well, more a chocolate stop 🙂

Marseille offered us a wonderful combination of sightseeing and relaxation.
It was another wonderful chapter of our Mediterranean cruise.
More Than a Trip… A Lifestyle.
